Heart and Love Tattoos – More Than Romance
Looking at heart and love tattoos you may be thinking they are only representing one type of love – romance. But while these tattoos can mean that, they can mean other things as well. The heart doesn't always have to symbolize a romantic type of love, as it can also be symbolic of showing grief or it can have religious connotations, as with a sacred heart tattoo.Of course when a person gets a heart and love tattoo, he is still doing it primarily for the romantic symbolism of a heart. Often a person will get a name attached to the heart or somewhere around it of a current love interest. These tattoos can be a great way to convince your loved one that this is the real thing, and you're in it for the duration. And if you are a "mama's boy," nothing says it better than a heart with a banner that says "Mom" on it.
A tattoo of a black heart is usually symbolic of grief or showing love for someone who has passed away. This is the perfect way to symbolize that your heart will always be with this person that you loved dearly, even in the event of their death. Conversely, in recent years a white heart tattoo has begun to symbolize the nursing profession. Not only is the coloring opposite on these two tattoos, so are the meanings.
A sacred heart tattoo represents a devotion to the Divine Heart of Christ. This is symbolic of His heart having love for His many followers. In a way it's the same as the romantic type of tattoo, a "Mom" tattoo, or one that is showing grief. With any of these heart tattoos, they are showing a deep love of another, one that is expected to last a lifetime.
