Hawaiian Flower Tattoo Designs – Aloha State Pride

Hawaiian flower tattoo designs are popular with those that are linking back to their heritage in the state of Hawaii and also with those that wish to get tattooed to always remember their memorable vacations spent on the islands. Designs with the Hawaiian flower can also take on the same meanings as other more generic flowers.

A typical Hawaiian flower tattoo design usually consists of either a hibiscus or lotus. Both of these flowers are native to Hawaii and are quite symbolic of the area. Getting tattooed with one of these, or a combination of the two of them, makes a great way to remember your Hawaiian heritage or a favorite vacation spent in the islands of Hawaii.

Tattoos with Hawaiian flowers, such as the lotus or hibiscus, also take on the meanings of standard flower tattoos. Flowers bring about thoughts of nature and a rebirthing or growing process. We can think of ourselves as growing or being reborn just as a flower seems to do as it emerges from the dirt. Once this type of design is used, it takes on a more tribal type of meaning, and in fact is beginning to be thought of as the new tribal tattoo. The tattoo can still be a band around the arm or ankle, but in addition, the design includes a beautiful Hawaiian flower. In the Aloha State the meaning of an arm band tattoo is a little different, as it means aboriginal pride, although it really didn't get its start until the 1970s
